Weekend Wanderings

It’s Spring here in the sunny South. The flowers are blooming and the pollen has arrived. The fun continues in Indiana. Still a few upsets, but the longer the tournament goes the less likely they become.

Weekend Wanderings

The insanity has begun. All of the conference tournaments have been completed, and the committee has made their decisions. This year the NCAA tournament will look different. No one has to travel all the way across the country because all of the games will be held in the state of Indiana. Hopefully, this will keep the Covid virus away. It looks like it’s going to be an interesting tournament. Well, that’s not why you’re here, so…

Weekend Wanderings

This is the last links post for the month of February. February may be the shortest month but it seems as if it lasts longer than the others. March joins us tomorrow, with the promise of warmer days ahead. March is also the month for the insanity that happens on the basketball court. This year, the fun will happen in one city, rather than various sites around the country. We certainly live in interesting times.

Here is the good stuff:

Weekend Wanderings

This has been a wild week of weather across the US. Some of the folks in Texas have seen more snow this week than ever before in their lifetimes. There’s a lot of blame being thrown around, but the reality is that a lot of people need a lot of help, and something needs to be done to try and keep some of the disasters from happening again.

Weekend Wanderings

This is a somewhat momentus weekend. Not only were there some fairly important proceedings happening in the U.S. Senate, but it’s also Valentine’s weekend. One may be more important than the other, depending on your point of view. Pro football has ended, and the mayhem of the third month will begin in a couple of months.

On to the important stuff:

There may be changes ahead in the work environment.

Another effect of the pandemic.

Good post from Brad Gray.

Just in case you were wondering.

This is interesting, and a bit disconcerting.

Weekend Wanderings

A new President has been inaugurated. The world didn’t fall apart on January 20, nor did heaven on earth come to pass. Sometimes, we Americans tend to give too much credit or blame to the individual in the White House. It should be obvious after the last 2,000 or so years that no man is going to be our savior. That being said, I wish President Biden well.

On to the good stuff:

I’m thinking of changing my style. Which of these looks do you think I should go with?

Weekend Wanderings

So far 2021 has tried to imitate its predecessor. Severe weather hitting much of the country, deluded people hitting the US Capitol, Covid19 continuing to hit around the world. There is some good stuff happening though. Some it can be found in the links below.

Speaking of links, let’s get to it:

One of the best blogs on the internet leaves us after twenty years. Michael Spencer, the internet monk, and the other writers have had a large impact on my journey. The archives can be found here.

The ball has dropped, the calendar has flipped, and the world has breathed a collective sigh of relief. We’re glad that’s over. 2020, that is. It may take us most of 2021 to recover. Of all the years in human history, this has certainly been one.

Update: Early this morning we welcomed our fourth grandchild into the world! We are blessed.

And now, on to the first links of the new year:

December is here and things are beginning to look up. It’s possible that a Covid vaccine will begin to be available later this month. It’s also the time of year we celebrate the birth of our Savior and King. It looks as if we will have a peaceful transition in the White House. We’ll see how things go.
