Weekend Wanderings

It’s time again for everyone’s favorite blog post, Weekend Wanderings! Or not. It’s hot and humid here in the sunny South, and we can’t complain too much because it is August after all. The NFL has started preseason games, and the real thing will begin in a few weeks. College football will also be starting soon. It will be interesting to see how this season shakes out. Possibly with a defensive lineman winning the Heisman Trophy? Maybe.

Anyway, on to the links:

Weekend Wanderings

The summer vacation is winding down here in the sunny South. In just a couple of weeks, school will begin again. This weekend, the stores around here are selling “school supplies” without charging sales tax. I put school supplies in quotes because much of the stuff that is tax free can’t even remotely be connected to anything educational. Go figure.

In case you’re interested, here are the links for this week:

Weekend Wanderings: Monday Edition

It’s the weekend again. I know it’s Monday. We’ll just call it a three-day weekend. This week has gone by quickly. Things were busy, with a lot of coming and going. Jan and I are going out of town again this week, so there may not be a weekend post. We’re going to my 40th high school reunion (I know, I know. I don’t look that old.). Things have dried out a bit here in the sunny South, and the weather is getting back to normal for July. In other words, hot and humid, with thunderstorms likely every afternoon.

Here are the links:

Weekend Wanderings

Weekend Wanderings is back this week. Jan and I had a wonderful weekend in the mountains of North Georgia last week. It rained off and on the whole weekend, but we had a very nice time. Here in the sunny South, we were beginning to think we had moved to the Pacific Northwest. The last few weeks have seen a much larger amount of rain than usual. Many folks have been flooded out of their homes, trees have come down, and river recreation areas have been closed. The sun came out finally. At least I think it’s the sun. It’s been so long.

Here is some of the best in the blogworld:

Weekend Wanderings

I’ve been off and on lately with my weekend links posts. That’s because my weekends have been very busy with travel and other such stuff this summer. To prove the point, there will not be a post next weekend because Jan and I will be celebrating our 33rd anniversary in the Georgia mountains, and while I probably will have internet access, I won’t have the time.

Anyway, enjoy these links:

Weekend Wanderings

It’s Fathers’ Day here in the sunny South, as it is in the rest of the country. I am grateful for the two wonderful children the Father has blessed me with, and a wonderful daughter-in-law. Pray for the folks in Colorado who have lost homes, and in some cases loved ones, in the fires there. It’s more contained, but there is still a fair bit of danger for many.

The school year has ended and there is much rejoicing. The students are pretty happy as well. It is thunderstorm season, and already those storms have spawned tornadoes around the country. Hurricane season is also here, and the first tropical storm of the year has made its way up the east coast.

It’s been a good week here in the sunny South. It’s Mother’s Day weekend, and I want to make sure all of you know that the mother of my children, my wife, is the most beautiful person in the world. I’m totally unbiased so, there you go. The Church lost a wise voice this week with the passing of Dallas Willard. He will be missed.

Weekend Wanderings

Spring is slowly making its way here in the sunny South. Some days are beautiful with temperatures where they should be, and some days are cooler than usual. I don’t know what that means for the summer months, and I’m not sure the folks who predict the weather know either. There’s a lot of good stuff out there on the interwebs. I’m going to make more of an effort to share some of the best with you each week.

Weekend Wanderings

After a great weekend remembering Jesus’ death and celebrating the resurrection, Jan and I traveled to Savannah, Georgia for a few days. We had a nice time walking all over the historic district, and enjoyed some beautiful weather. Spring has finally arrived here in the sunny South. Of course, that also means pollen and yard work. The college basketball season comes to a close Monday, and those of us who are fans will have a void that won’t be filled until October.
